Chinese Spring Festival 2025. Chinese new year 2025 or spring festival ( also called chun jie), falls on wednesday day, january 29th, starting the year of the snake. The lunar new year, falls on a slightly different day in january or february of each year, as it follows the chinese lunisolar calendar, rather than the regular gregorian calendar.

Celebrated on the day after the second full moon, this year’s spring festival starts on 10 february and festivities will last until the lantern festival (more on that later) on 24 february. It’s in winter, but the name spring festival has its reasons and interesting history.
